Tower Construction

Tower construction typically involves four site visits, planning, excavation and pouring, backfilling, and finally tower erection.

The planning visit helps make sure everybody is on the same page, inspect the site for possible problems, soil conditions, nearby obstacles, and assures that the precise location is used.

Excavation and pouring typically consists of at least two days, but can be substantially more invovled as towers get taller and ground conditions worsen. All of the forms and rebar cages are brought to site assembled or as assembled as possible for ease of site work. The hole is excavated and compacted, then the forms and rebar are set into place and leveled. The following day the concrete is poured.

The third visit is to backfill the foundation hole. The hole can be left open until the erection visit but most customers would rather have the hole filled as soon as the concrete curing process can support it.

The final visit is tower erection, and consists of either assembling the tower sections on the ground and lifting them into place or assembling the sections vertically in place.
